Kicking Off Juniors Over the Local Circuit 2019-20

Big picture
On September 19th, the College & Career Access Center kicked of its 4th season of Juniors Over the Local Circuit. This program offers every Junior within the 13 Connected Community Schools an opportunity to visit and tour Jackson's three local institutions of higher education - Baker College, Jackson College, and Spring Arbor University. As our advisors gear up for October tour dates, over 300 students have already taken advantage of this valuable initiative. The CCAC is looking forward to another successful year of providing early college awareness to the students of Jackson County!

Kids2College/Pathways2Professional Skilled Trades

Big picture
Our Kids2College/Pathways2Professional Skilled Trades season is off to an early start for 2019-20. This year, 3 of our 13 Connected Middle Schools scheduled Fall tours. This early awareness program combines a classroom curriculum with tours to local manufacturers and regional colleges. Students get a first-hand look at traditional college campuses and academic programs as well as opportunities within the field of skilled trades. As demand grows within the trades, students are learning that they have more options than ever as they consider post-secondary goals.

This year's eighth grade class from Vandercook Lake Jr/Sr High was the first group of our 6th Kids 2 College season. On September 27, they enjoyed a full day of college and career touring. The class visited Jiffy/Chelsea Milling Company and Eastern Michigan University.
