Prestons Post
Term 4, Week 6
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to our Week 6 newsletter. We have had a fabulous week of learning and fun at Prestons.
Filming for the 360 Virtual school tour
I was very proud of our whole school community as we conducted filming for our 360 virtual tour which will be live on our website soon. Our school looked amazing, our students were respectful and looked great in their full school uniform and our teachers showcased the fantastic things that happen at Prestons every day.
Special visit from our Executive Director
On Thursday we proudly welcomed Deb Summerhayes, our Executive Director, for a school visit. Mrs Summerhayes visited many classes and spoke with our students and teachers. She was very impressed with the respectful students and the high quality teaching and learning that was taking place in our classrooms. Well done everyone, I am very proud to be the Principal of such a wonderful and quality school.
Celebrating our wonderful teachers
This week we proudly celebrated some of our wonderful teachers. Congratulations to Mr Edwards and Mrs Garland who received network awards for their exemplary teaching and contributions to our schools. Congratulations also to Mr Montgomery and Mrs Murray who received their proficient teacher accreditation. We also celebrated 20 years of service to Public Education for Mrs Patton and Mrs Singh. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and professional teaching staff at Prestons Public School.
Disco
Our Year 6 fundraising disco was a huge success, we loved having the team from Dance Fever join us for a fun day of dancing. Our students showed great respect once again and we were complimented by the staff from Dance Fever on their great behaviour and engagement.
Good luck to Zoey
We are very proud of Zoey who is representing NSW at the Nationals in Brisbane. She looks fabulous in her Blues uniform and we wish her well. Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets to help Zoey and her dad get to Brisbane for this event.
Approaching Students
Over the past week we have had several incidents of parents approaching students on the way home from school to address incidents involving their child at school. Please know that this is not an acceptable way to deal with issues. At no time should an adult approach a child in this way. If you have concerns regarding an incident with your child, please contact the school so that we can deal with this in an appropriate manner. Thank you for your support in this important issue.
End of Year Excursions
After many years of no excursions due to COVID we are finally able to provide quality excursions for our students. The Stage 3 excursion to Camden Environmental Education Centre is going to be a fantastic day for our students with lots of learning and fun. This is coming up and I remind families to send in permission notes and pay so that your child does not miss out on this educational experience. We also have our End of Year days, K-2 Movie day and 3-6 Swimming Carnival day, please remember to bring in your notes and money for these events. We do recognise that with so many excursions and events on at this time of year it gets a bit expensive for families. Student assistance is available for any families that need assistance at this busy and expensive time of year. This is a confidential process and I would hate for any child to miss out on these events. If you need financial assistance, please contact our wonderful office ladies who will be only to glad to help.
We hope you have had a wonderful week. Don't forget to ask your child what they are learning at school.

Nelson Mandela voiced his opinions and helped those who faced racism. As a result of the racism that occurred, Nelson Mandela had experienced various disadvantages, however, he did not let this affect him and instead bounced back. Eventually being a part of the transition to help end the racism that occurred in his country.

Classroom Chat with K Platypus
We have been learning about informative writing and currently writing in our Chicken Journals, documenting everything that has happened so far.
Learning is so much!
Classroom Chat with 3 Rainbowfish
3 Rainbowfish are also learning how to plan for and write an information report! We are enjoying learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and traditions.
Using our knowledge, we have created mind maps and are now starting to transfer that information to write our information report.
We are so excited to continue our learning journey and we are looking forward to all the fun events in Term 4!
