The Frilled Shark
A Very Weird Creature
Description
The frilled Shark is a serpent like creature. It got its name from its collar like gills with frilled edges. It's long jaws are terminal instead of underneath like most sharks. It has very small pectoral fins. The Frilled Shark is not known to make any type of noises. They have no nictitating membrane to cover their eyes. They have a pair of thick skin folds along the shark's belly. The skeleton of the frilled shark is very low in calcium because of the low nutrients in it's environment. They eat squid, cuttlefish, and other sharks. The long thin shape helps it hunt in crevices and tight spots. Scientists do not know how a slow shark as this, is quick enough to catch prey as fast as a squid.
