EmpowHER: 2019 Fellowship and Scholarship Opportunity
Do you have or want an internship in Washington DC this summer?
We invite you to EmpowHER 2019: a summer fellowship and scholarship opportunity to support progressive women. This 8-week program in Washington DC provides undergraduate and graduate women with professional and leadership development, mentorship, and more. Though this program, we are also providing a number of $5000 summer living stipends to subsidize students’ cost of living during a summer internship, to make interning possible.

Arch Ready: Salary Negotiation
Date: Tuesday, March 26

In this workshop, you will learn how to:
- Recognize your value and advocate for yourself as the foundation for salary negotiation.
- Do objective research to identify a target salary for use in negotiation.
- Access salary negotiation resources such as salary.com and paycheckcity.com.
- Understand potential items to negotiate beyond salary.
- Understand communication during a negotiation, such as how it can be started and how to ask for more time for consideration.

Graduate Student Workshop: Careers in Higher Education - Virtual Career Panel for Graduate Students
Date: Tuesday, March 26

As their graduate education progresses, many master’s and doctoral students develop an interest in higher education administrative careers. Such fields may include such diverse career tracks as research administration, program development, or data analysis and assessment. This virtual panel will feature several professionals who work in such fields, with an informal discussion about the types of graduate-level opportunities available in postsecondary organizations. Panelists will also discuss the day-to-day nature of the work and any unique challenges applicants may encounter. More information on the speakers will be released closer to the event. This 30-minute express workshop will cover the top five interview strategies in 15 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes for questions. Please note that you will not conduct a mock interview during this time, however, you can have specific questions answered about any upcoming interview. If you're in need of some quick interviewing tips in between classes, this workshop is for you!

This 30-minute express workshop will cover the top five tips to help you stand out in the job search in 15 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes for questions. From developing your application materials to applying for and then following up for jobs online, you’ll learn how to navigate the job search effectively. Feel free to come with any specific questions you have about your job search process. If you're in need of some quick job search tips in between classes, this workshop is for you!

- Recognize common professional etiquette challenges faced by new professionals
- Understand the purpose of communicating effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and others in a professional setting
- Understand what appropriate use of phone, email, etc. in a work setting
- Wear appropriate attire and the differences between business professional, business casual, casual, and inappropriate
- Recognize and identify generational differences within the workplace
