iReady Math Instruction for Elementary
We are excited to share with you a new resource for our students at home. We are now offering the iReady online instruction modules for math. If you were enrolled in Rochester Community Schools last spring, you will remember the online modules as they were used throughout the district with our elementary students. The modules are designed to meet students where they are at based on their most previous iReady assessment, which was completed back in September/October. Students will be encouraged to complete the activities/tasks provided. A sample of a daily schedule is provided below:

45 minutes (divided across the week or up to 3 lessons weekly)
To learn more about accessing the modules please visit the following website which will provide more information: i-Ready Student/Parent Site
Elementary Assessments Winter 2021
Dear RCS Families,
We hope you had time to relax over winter break. Teachers and staff are excited to welcome students back to virtual learning. Thank you for your continued support and partnership this year. The return from break is a time where teachers assess students to properly plan for instruction. We wanted to take this opportunity to update you on our assessment schedule.
i-Ready
Students will be completing a math and reading diagnostic this winter. Teachers will communicate a schedule in the coming days or weeks. Additional times may be added with teacher discretion.
Additional Assessments
Some of our assessments require 1-on-1 support. These assessments are extremely helpful for teachers to gather information about students as learners to plan for instruction. Over the next several weeks you may notice teachers scheduling times to assess individual students. They will notify you of assessments in advance and any asynchronous learning opportunities that will be available for students.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Robert S. Phelps

Virtual Campus
Courage to Raise
As parents and guardians your partnership with educators in supporting our learners is vital. During our last Virtual Campus Parent Committee meeting we discussed the need to support families as you navigate supporting the social emotional needs of students. To meet this need, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Virtual Campus Family Learning series: Courage to Raise!
Virtual Campus would like to ask for your help to create a repository of topics with which you would like help supporting your children. Think about the social emotional topics which continue to reoccur in family conversations? Are there issues that arise that you wish you had resources to reference? Submit this Virtual Campus Social Emotional Topic form to share your ideas with us.
After reviewing the ideas and topics, we will connect with local Rochester Community Schools staff such as social workers, psychologists, and teachers. We will design a family learning series around your topics. The series will ideally be launched through video much in the way our elementary literacy series rolled out. We will make the videos and resources available to all RCS families on our website and Youtube channel.
We kindly ask that if you wish to participate in completing the form you do so by January 17th.

NHS Student Tutors
If you know of any student that is in need of tutoring, or need to refer any student for tutoring, please have them (or their parents) complete this form. Once they have submitted the form, I will personally send them a list of recommended tutors that match the subjects in which they need help. From there, they will contact the tutors and set up a time that works for both parties.
Teachers, if you are looking for a student to work with a specific group of students, or possibly run a small review session for your class, you can also fill out the form and I will send you a list of tutors that are willing to set that up for you. Of course you would need to provide them with the topics for the session, but they can help you from there!
Here is the form to share with families, or for you to fill out if you need assistance with reviews in your course: https://forms.gle/fLaX4mpy9MnzsxZR7
Please let me know if you have any questions about this new program!
Thanks,
