Message from Mr. Hanzeli
Hello Elger Bay Elementary Families,
It is a very strange feeling to be 'winding down' this school year even as we try and 'wind up' for all of the unknowns that are still in our collective future. My first hope is that this message finds you doing well physically and emotionally. I know, and we know, that this has been incredibly stressful for every family. We are blessed to be such a tight knit school community, but I recognize all of this can be very taxing on individuals. As we move forward, my hope for us all is that we find that 'just right' balance between staying and keeping everyone healthy and getting our systems back up and running.
Regarding this June, here are a few basics that are firming up.
June 5: Last day for mailing of hard copy instructional packets.
June 8-12: This is the final week of new digital instruction materials for students.
June 15-18: Student time to make-up/missing work and year - end learning activities.
Progress Reports prepared for mailing.
Food Service update - Grab and Go meals will be available through June 30.
Watch for additional information on this matter as our state has applied to the FDA for additional food service through the summer. That is yet undecided.
~ Victor Hanzeli, Principal
Grade 5 Student Promotion Recognition Plan In Works
We are hard at work planning a special happening in honor of our fifth grade students as they slowly build excitement toward their middle school experience (see registration below).
Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Slagg and our team have been exploring how we can best make this happen. As fine tuning details get hammered out, we will send them to you, but I am just wanting to provide a save the date memo.
Mrs. Slagg or Mrs. Anderson, Mr. Hanzeli, PTA President Butler, and possibly one or two other staff members
The team will be driving to the home of each student to present them with a farewell package filled with memories, recognition, and a few goodies.
June 17, 4:00 - 7:00+ (Mrs. Anderson's class)
June 18, 4:00 - 7:00+ (Mrs. Slagg's class)
Outside the front door / porch of your home (unless you would rather we not)
Because we think your children are amazing and we want to celebrate them as they head off to middle school.

Elger Bay PTA Treasurer Needed
The following message comes from our wonderful PTA president, Elizabeth Butler. If you might be interested in what she is asking, please give her a call. Even if you don't have much experience, the team will be happy to coach and help you get oriented. ~ Mr. H.
Dear Elger Bay Families,
The PTA is still short on its board for the 2020-21 school year. As of right now the board is made up of the following:
President: Elizabeth Butler
Vice President: Brandy Siddique
Secretary: Suzanne Hiatt
Membership: Roxanne Cardon
We are in need of a Treasurer.
The duties of the Treasurer are:
· Keeping the budget/books up to date
· Writing checks
· Depositing money
· Setting up and breaking down a register at events where it is needed.
· Attending General and Board meetings and trainings
This list can be intimidating, but there will be help and training available. We are a team and we will all help each other. We need to fill this position or we will be unable to host events, assemblies, or help teachers or families with field trips, or supplies.
If you would like to be a part of the PTA Board or have questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org

Counselor's Corner - Mrs. Mati
Hello Elger Bay Explorers,
Wow, it’s hard to believe that it is June! Before long summer will be here. As we head into June and summer, I want you all to know that I miss seeing everyone at school and hope you are all doing well, working hard, and having fun, too! For June, the elementary school counselors in our district have put together some more activities for you on Clever. Included will be a short book list for summer reading and videos of books being read aloud. You will not even need to have the book on hand to hear the story! Like last month, you can find these June resources on Clever in the “Social and Emotional” folder. Again, the activities we share are 100% optional and meant to be fun and helpful. No need to stress over anything that we share and please reach out if you do have any questions.
P.S. I've included a link for a fun scavenger hunt activity for you to do at home. Keep up the good work learning and practicing how to express your feelings!
