A Message From Dr. Hammond
I just returned from the Priority Children’s Champion Awards Breakfast where over 1,000 members of Genesee County attended to celebrate individuals, local businesses and organizations throughout our community who make our community “the best place to raise children.” While I realize there are many wonderful people throughout the county making this a great place to live, I was humbled by the dedication and commitment that so many give back to our children. Some give back by providing blankets, some provide food, others provide entertainment, and all give lots and lots of love. As a high school, we were asked to nominate five young adults who value community service and provide a better world for those around them. Please help me congratulate the following Grand Blanc High School outstanding champions:
· Andrea Northrup, Class of 2015, organized a book drive for a women’s shelter in Flint.
· Scott Rodriguez, Class of 2015, organized a benefit concert for students with autism and raised over $3,000.
· Miranda Blondeel, Class of 2015, an active Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteer and prominent volunteer at her church.
· Sydney Vanitvelt, Class of 2015, a mentor for autism students and volunteer for Powercamp.
· Paige Severn, Class of 2016, a community volunteer for several organizations and recently organized a benefit for the Duncanson family.
These students are to be commended for all they have done to make our community a great place to live. May we all be motivated and empowered to help others to make our world a better place for all.
