Enrichment Flag Day Projects
This year for Flag Day, all 4th and 5th grade Enrichment students participated in this year's Flag Day ceremony. We created patriotic projects about our country and flag. We had 3 weeks to choose an event in American History and present it to the Veterans. We all got to choose different projects based on where our interests lie. I did a project on the US Constitution, The US Constitution is the document that defined the basic freedom and rights given to all Americans. In Enrichment we believe it is important to honor the country that has made it possible for us to learn and go to Enrichment every single day. We learned about the very start of our country to more recent events such as 9/11 and The Cold War. At the end of our project I can say all 4th and 5th grade Enrichment students are proud of the work we have done and I feel much more close to our country and have learned a lot more than we knew before we started this project. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Sincerely,
Julianna Unwin

Mini Business
Students in Mrs. Jaruszewski and Miss Yager’s classes have been learning about economics, businesses, communication, and problem solving skills since January. Miss Yager’s 5th grade students acted as mentors to Mrs. Jaruszewski’s 4th grade students. Each group created a mini business plan. They did research, compared their business to others that were similar, developed a budget, considered their customers, designed a marketing plan, and created a business. Students put together an entire presentation.
Thanks to a generous mini grant from our Alumni Association, students were able to take a wonderful field trip to Center Street in Lewiston. Some of our amazing community members invited us in to learn about their businesses and how they created them and ran them. We are so grateful to Stuart Sports, Gallo Restaurant, Village Bake Shoppe, Hibbards, and Lewiston Love who gave us all at least 40 minutes of their time to give us tours and ask questions. Students were even gifted a t-shirt from Stuart Sports and a puppy bowl of custard from Hibbard’s. We were so grateful to have this opportunity and experience. It was wonderful to see the students so engaged.
Finally, students put everything together for a presentation on Friday, June 10th. We invited our Board of Education, Alumni Association, administration, and parents to come and see all of our hard work. Students were able to show their amazing communication skills as they spoke to everyone that came around to see their business. Students dressed up, had badges, and even a fun breakfast meeting spread. The skills that students acquired during this experience will last a lifetime. We are so happy that they were able to do this! Thank you to all who were part of this! Next year, Mrs Jaruszewski and Miss Yager’s classes will both be 5th grade mentors and have a new adventure ahead! Stay tuned.
