Bond Update

As you can see by the projects listed on the board pictured above, passing the bond in May is important to maintain and improve our building and upgrade our technology. A major focus for the next three months will be sharing information with the community and encouraging people to vote on May 3rd.

Dr. Skalka held a bond information for the PTO Board members, and Kelly Vogler and I attended. Because of the new law in Michigan that prohibits public bodies from distributing information on ballot proposals 60 days before an election, we need our parents to spread the word about voting for the bond during the weeks after March 4th. Dr. Skalka introduced a parent initiative that he calls "Each One Reach 10". Basically, a key parent will be identified in each classroom, and that parents will identify ten other parents who support the bond. The contact information of the parents will be recorded and sent to Central Office for subsequent reminders about voting. Kelly is working on identifying key classroom parents and beginning the process.

Another way we are informing parents is through the foam information board pictured above that was placed in the lobby last Friday. The board displays the five objectives of the bond as well as the projects that are specific to Belle River. Flyers with the same information will be available in the office, and I will be passing this information out at the Daddy Daughter Dance.

If you or parents have any questions about the bond, please contact me.
