Also, a reminder that we are continuing with our study of the virtue of faith this month as part of our Virtues in Practice program. Be sure to check out the "Virtue Corner" below for more information, including potential home projects for you and your family.

Walkathon 2022
Our annual Walkathon is scheduled for Tuesday, September 27th, and I'm thrilled to share that we have already raised nearly $5,000 towards supporting student needs including textbooks, learning programs and materials, and upgrades to our outdoor recess space! Last year, we were able to transform our Learning Center into an amazing space for use by all of our students, and we look forward to more improvements in the year ahead. Thank you so much for your support! To donate, click here: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/fjvd22
Counselor Permissions - Please Complete Through the FACTS Portal
As part of the 2022-2023 school year program, Father John V. Doyle School will again be offering a school-counseling program to help support the social-emotional needs of students. Similar to last year, the school counselor will be visiting classrooms at the start of the year to introduce herself and discuss various feelings, including how to recognize them, and how to cope with them.
Depending on your child’s grade, this may include reading a story about a feeling and/or participating in a breathing exercise or relaxation activity. Students will also be able to share what they do when upset so that they can learn from one another. In order for your child to participate in these group discussions, your permission is needed and can be given via the FACTS Family Portal under "Web Forms."
Nurse's Information
If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19 while attending school, we are able to provide a rapid antigen test at the school with parental permission. With this in mind, please complete the COVID Test Permission Form here and return to Nurse Cioe. Only students with signed consents on file can be tested at the school.
In addition, if you have not yet completed and returned your Health Update Forms included in your Back to School Night folders, please be sure to submit these forms to Nurse Cioe as soon as possible to ensure all medical records are up to date. Thank you!

Parish Children's Choir Information
As Fr. Woolley mentioned at the Back to School Night, Ss. John and Paul Parish’s Music Director (and FJVD Parent), Dr. Kirsten Mitak, will be starting up the Parish Children’s Choir in a few weeks!
The SSJP Parish Children’s Choir is open to all children Grades 1 to 8; No musical experience needed, just a love for singing and the ability to read lyrics. Weekly Wednesday rehearsals will begin September 14 from 5-5:45pm in the Choir Loft of the Church. Choir members coming from after care will be walked from class to rehearsal by a trusted adult (when this occurs, parents will be charged for a 5pm after care dismissal, and pick up their child at the Church at 5:45pm).
The SSJP Children's Choir will sing for the 11:30am mass on October 9, for the first Sunday of each month (Nov-May) and for the Christmas Eve Vigil Mass at 5pm. Those interested in joining the Parish Children’s Choir, please fill out the registration form here. For more info please contact Kirsten Mitak at kirstenmitak@yahoo.com.
Please note that the Parish Children’s Choir is distinct from Mrs. Gagnon’s School Choir, which will sing at monthly school Masses and other liturgies and events, and will be meeting Thursday afternoons immediately after dismissal. More info on how to register for the School Choir in the weeks to come!
