Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! The Hornet Happenings is a bi-monthly email from your PTO. These emails will help keep you informed about upcoming events, club opportunities, and ways to support and thank our wonderful teachers, Hollymead staff and students.
It was great to see so many of you during Open House - thanks for stopping by the PTO table and introducing yourself!
We hope to be able to have a year full of fun PTO-sponsored activities like Pizza and a Movie, Book Fair, and many more! The success of those activities depends on you - your time and donations - so please watch your students’ take home folders, PTO social media (Facebook and Instagram), and this newsletter for information on how you can contribute. We all thank you!
We also still have several vacancies on the PTO board and would love more volunteers! Please fill out this volunteer form (this is separate from the ACPS volunteer form-sorry for the confusion) if you're interested or contact us at hollymeadptopresident@gmail.com.
Our first PTO meeting will be Thursday, September 8, at 7 PM. We hope to see many of you there! There will be a free raffle for an exciting PTO prize. The meeting will be in the Hollymead Library. We hope to offer a zoom option-stay tuned for more information!

THE EASIEST WAY TO SUPPORT THE PTO
The absolute easiest way to support the Hollymead PTO is by linking your shopping cards and Amazon Smile account. These simple things, with next to zero effort, can bring big cash for our students, staff, and classrooms. Last year, we earned over $1,000 from the grocery shopping program alone.
- Register for Amazon Smile
- Update your grocery cards to benefit Hollymead Elementary (Kroger: Hollymead ID# 80574 and Harris Teeter: Hollymead ID# 5899). These must be updated every year.
PE Club
We’re back to regular Marvelous Mondays and Terrific Tuesdays at the Hollymead Gym! We are so excited!
Does your child like to be active? Come join Scott Williams (aka Mr. Dubs) on Mondays and our very own Mr. Carroll on Tuesdays for FUN games and PE activities right after school!
