Dr. Carlson and Mr. Erik Brekke invite all interested parents to the library for a "second cup of coffee" on Friday, November 17 at 9:15 a.m. (immediately following Flag Raising). They will share the Illinois School Report Card details and Willowbrook's school improvement plan. There will be time for questions and conversations.
Speech screenings start Nov. 14
Kindergarten speech screenings will be conducted November 14.
2nd-grade speech screenings will be conducted in the Winter (Date TBD).
The primary purpose of the speech screenings is to identify articulation (speech sound) errors.
Additional screenings for concerns with receptive language, expressive language, voice or fluency will be available at parent and/or teacher request.
Parents will only be notified if their child does not pass the screening. If the screening results indicate additional assessment and/or speech therapy support, you will be contacted by one of the speech-language pathologists.
If you have any questions about the screenings or concerns about your child’s communication skills, please contact your child’s teacher or one of the speech-language pathologists: Lisa Netzly at 847-400-8826, lnetzly@district30.org or Kelsey Martin at 847-400-8847, kmartin@district30.org.
District 30's preschool screenings are also held at Willowbrook School. These screenings, designed to identify preschool age children who may benefit from special education support prior to kindergarten, are conducted throughout the school year. If you would like to schedule a screening for your preschool child, please contact Tiffani Cuneo at 847-498-8964.
Veterans Day at Willowbrook
Willowbrook honored Veterans Day during a special Friday Flag Raising, which featured a talk and Q&A with U.S. Marine Corps veteran John Olen (also a Wildcat dad); local veterans in attendance; the launch of a letter-writing campaign for Vietnam Veterans of America; and orchestra students performing "America, the Beautiful" with Mrs. Barrett and Mr. Barker. Thanks to all veterans for their service!
Next chance to share your input is Nov. 29
All community members are invited at noon or 6 p.m. November 29 for our latest opportunity to meet with Superintendent Dr. Emily Tammaru and a member of our Board of Education to ask questions and share thoughts on what's important to you in our schools. Click here or below to join us!

Multicultural Night is Jan. 26 at Maple!
Save the Date for Multicultural Night on January 26, presented by Wescott and Willowbrook. This fantastic celebration is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Maple School. Students will have the opportunity to grab a passport and “travel” to booths showcasing different heritages, ethnicities, and traditions. The festivities also include a traditional attire fashion show parade, dance group demonstrations, and of course, activities and food samples celebrating the diverse cultures of District 30. Host table sign up will be available in the coming week.
Student artwork coming home next week!
Photography club show
The fall session of Willowbrook’s own Photography Club proved to be a splendid success! Participants demonstrated their artistry and knack for setting up that “perfect pic” in personal collections currently on display in the upstairs hallway. These fourth and fifth grade photographers created beautiful and meaningful work that they should be very proud of.
**Please join the artists show their work along with Mrs. Stump on Thursday, November 16 at 3:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Missing items? Please check the lost & found
Our lost and found baskets are overflowing. Please have your child check the baskets by the front doors for any items that belong to them. Thank you!
