Sunset Valley Elementary - week of May 22 - 26
The Principal's Den
This last week was a busy one but boy was it FUN!!! (which is why our Bobcat Pride newsletter is so late. :) We had lots of great activities going on all week long.
- On Tuesday we welcomed so many new kinder families to our Kinder Orientation. We had an amazing turnout! Parents & students met our Kinder teachers and were able to tour the classrooms.
- 3rd hosted students from the Fossil Ridge AVID class. They have been writing letters to students this year. These Pen Pals were so excited to meet one another.
- 4th graders attended Play Day at Fossil Ridge High School on Thursday. Coach Dunson and the PE teachers from Basswood & N. Riverside helped coordinate great events like the long jump, softball throw and the buddy walk. The students all had an exciting & fun competition.
- On Friday, Mrs. Cowen organized our very first Career Day! There were a variety of parents & guests that met with classrooms to talk about their careers and the importance of education. Our last presenter, Bell Helicopter pilot Erik Eriksen surprised Mrs. Cowen and Teacher of the Year, Cheri Baxter with a flight around the school & neighborhood. I was very proud to have my husband participating in our very first Career Day.
- On Friday night, the SVES PTA hosted Family Fun Night! We had 4 different kinds of bounce houses, face painting, carnival games, a food truck, Kona Ice and Trolls, the movie. The kids had a ball!!! This was our final PTA event of the year and it was so much fun.
