THE PATRIOT POST
Newsletter for PHES Students and Families
It's Kindness Week!
Last week I announced a holiday "Giving Tree" that would be placed in the front office. By the end of the first day all 24 tags had been claimed. I cannot express what is in my heart when I think about how generous and kind you all are. You make me feel the real spirit of the season.
Counselor Corner
Hello PHES Parents!
In Social Skills this week, we will be talking about how to show kindness to others and why kindness is so important. This week is also Kindness Week! Your students will be doing some fun activities throughout the week to notice when others are being kind and to practice being kind themselves. Feel free to ask them how they were able to show kindness to others!
Here is the Kindness Week schedule:

Hearing Screening Updates
Providence Hall's Speech Department has recently finished conducting the required fall hearing screenings. We have submitted several audiological referrals and have reminded many students to remember to keep their earbuds turned down to avoid permanent hearing damage. A recent poll by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association suggests that nearly half of all adult Americans have a loved one who has difficulty hearing. Please reference the graphic on facilitating effective communication with individuals who have hearing loss. Feel free to contact jcollingridge@providencehall.com if you have additional questions or concerns about your student's hearing or speech-language development.

Planning for Holiday Parties 🎈 🥳
We know PHES is a big family with many different traditions and beliefs. We know many of you celebrate Christmas, while others celebrate different holidays, and some families do not celebrate any. Regardless of your beliefs and traditions we want your child to feel welcome this season. Many if not all classes will be having class parties on December 17th. Please communicate with your student's teacher as early as possible if you have ideas or requests about how to make the day special for your student. We love you all and we are so grateful for a school of teachers who embrace our variety of cultures and traditions.
