Ganges river water pollution
The Hindo people believe that the Ganges River is holy so most of them bathe in the polluted river daily.
Causes of water pollution
Chemical, Human, and Agriculture Waste are one cause of the water pollution but there are many more unfortunately. The Hindo religion believes that the Ganges River is holy. When someone dies they burn the body on a raft in the river. The only problem with that is that water an fire don't mix so you end up with a half burned body in the river. Some people that cannot afford a proper ceremony for the burning in the river, they just dump the bodies in the river. Also, they have outdated sewage systems so most of the waste ends up in the river.
Effects of water pollution
80% of all illnesses in India, and one third of deaths come from the water pollution. These diseases that cause this sickness from water pollution are called water borne diseases. Some deformities come from water pollution too. Some water borne diseases include; Giardia, Chorela, Shigellosis, Amoebiasis, and Cryptosporidiosis.
Solutions to water pollution
Some people could stop throwing trash in the rivers and lakes. India could update your sewage systems so the water would not be as contaminated. Factories could stop dumping chemical waste into the water. India's government could put some laws in place to stop pollution.
