Holy Rosary School Derby
NEWSLETTER / TERM 4/ WEEK 4/ 2nd November 2023

Message From Miss Melanie
We had our last session with Art our Soccer coach on Tuesday 24th October. The students have really enjoyed learning the finer skills of the game and putting those skills into practice during the sessions. Our Yr 3/4 students will be applying those skills on Friday in Broome, when they represent Holy Rosary at the Multi-sports Carnival. Thank you to Football Futures for sponsoring a bus to take the students across and back. Look out for the pics on Facebook to check out the fun.
Miss Tara was lucky to join the Cross-sector ATA Conference last week. Lots of information was shared about how to support students and families and we look forward to her sharing this information with our staff. Also a big congratulations to Miss Kylie and Miss Lesley who were awarded a certificate in recognition to more than 20 years of service in Catholic Education, in particular their long term commitment to the education of students at Holy Rosary.
Thank you to all the families who completed the survey regarding the proposed changes to the uniform. We had a great response from families and there was overwhelming support for the proposed changes. We will now go ahead with organising the new school shirts and amending the uniform policy to reflect the changes. This means that from 2024 boys and girls can wear royal blue shorts all the time and the skort will be removed as an option, the new shirts will be ordered for families to begin purchasing from the start of 2024. The change over for the uniform will be two years, so existing uniforms can be worn until the end of 2026. Stock of the current uniform will not be renewed but will be able to be purchased until sold out.
We have our Christmas Concert on Wednesday 29th November. Don't forget to put this in your calendar. We will have available to purchase on the evening a sausage sizzle, drinks and icy poles. The money raised from this will go towards our Senior Playground upgrade.
Our final Mass and Awards presentation for our PP - 6 students, will be held in the Church on Monday 4th December from 9am. Details will be sent out to families closer to the date. We look forward to seeing as many families as possible attend this event.
Once again we thank you for supporting our programs through making sure your child comes to school each day. Many great activities are planned for the rest of the year so please make sure that you keep attendance up so that your child doesn't miss out.
God Bless.
Miss Melanie

On Tuesday 24th October a group of 10 year 5/6 students who have high attendance went to Broome to participate in the Fremantle Dockers Kimberley 9's program. The students had a fabulous time, some got a little too much sun but enjoyed kicking the ball and meeting some famous footballers. Check out some of the pics from the day.
Soccer Broome
On Friday 3rd November the year 3/4 classes will be attending the Multi-Sport Carnival in Broome and playing Soccer. We have been lucky enough to secure some sponsorship to cover the hire of a bus, to allow this opportunity to happen - we thank Football Future for their kind support. This carnival also will allow our students to show off their soccer skills after a fantastic coaching program delivered by Football Futures through the Sporting Schools grants, the students have really enjoyed the coaching provided by Coach Art. We look forward to the great pics from the day in our next newsletter.
