Principal's Message

Recognition of Student Achievement - Semester 1 Reports

Student reports for Semester 1 will be going home on Wednesday 24th June. I have

been reading about all the wonderful achievements of our children and how

much they strive each day towards achieving their goals, and it makes me very

proud to be a part of such a wonderful school. Our students are high-achieving

and have a very positive attitude to learning overall which is a credit to not only

them, but to our dedicated staff and parents that we are so fortunate to have in

our community. Our reports are a reflection on the high-quality, holistic education

that we provide here at Banksmeadow PS and I’d like to take this opportunity to

thank all our students and staff for the enormous effort that they have put in this

semester to produce such positive results!

An Invitation for P-2 Parents - Watch Your Children in Flip Gym

Next Friday 19th June, parents of P-2 children are invited to watch your child participate in their Flip Gym lesson. This is not only a great opportunity to see the skills our children have developed over the course of this year, but to also see the exceptional quality of the program that our children are so engaged in. Please see the timetable below and we look forward to seeing you there :)

9:00-9:45 - 2JS

9:45-10:30 - Preschool

10:30-11:15 - 1/2W

11:50-12:35 - 1S

12:35-1:20 - KB

1:50-2:35 - KT

Payments To Our Front Office - Envelopes Provided

I'd like to take the opportunity to express our appreciation and thank all our families for finalising payments in such an understanding and timely way. I'd also like to let everyone know that we have provided envelopes in the front office area for you to place your payments when paying in cash. This is a more reliable way of passing your payments on to our front office staff as it separates your payment from others and you can clearly mark out your child's name and the purpose of your payment on the envelope. If it is more convenient for you to use your own envelopes from home, that is also fine. As you would appreciate, it can become very busy in the front office, particularly at 9am, and your payments can be processed much more quickly and reliably when presented in a clearly marked envelope. Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.

The Senior band will be performing at the Bandfest on Wednesday June 24th. A reminder that all permission notes need to be returned for this event by the end of this week please. Mrs Bragg will be in touch with any parents who have offered to drive on the day in the next few days.

School Banking

Calling for volunteers – we need your help!

School Banking is coming to Banksmeadow Public School.

The Comm Bank School Banking program provides children with an opportunity to make deposits into their personal Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account at school each week.

The program is about how often your child makes deposits, not how much they deposit.

To encourage regular savings behaviour the program offers an exciting Rewards Program. Every deposit earns your child a Dollarmites token, and once they’ve collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for a reward.

Before we can launch this program at school, we need volunteers to help with the banking and distribute the rewards.

This only takes approximately one hour one day a week for one person.

The more volunteers we have the less time is needed. For example, the weekly banking would be shared among several volunteers so the same person would not be required to do this every week.

The Commonwealth Bank will provide support in how to run the program.

Your help with the program will greatly benefit students as they develop vital saving skills and also help our school with fundraising.

Please indicate your interest in volunteering for this great program by emailing the P&C at: bpspandc@hotmail.com and providing the following information:

· Your name

· Your contact details (phone & email)

· Your availability (what days you would be available)

Multicultural Perspectives public speaking competition

On Tuesday Adytia (4B) and Jessica (5/6P) represented the school at the Multicultural Perspectives public speaking competition which was held at Chifley Public School. The speeches presented were of the highest standard and both student did themselves and the school very proud. With family members and teachers watching on, they wowed the audience with their compelling and expressive speeches. Congratulations on such a fine effort.
