Message From Mr. McCracken
Dear LTMS Families,
I'm hoping spring is right around the corner, but you never know. What I do know, however, is that spring break and the end of quarter three are both just two weeks away. There is still time to get work turned in and grades brought up!
Go Panthers!
Mr. McCracken

Census Information
The Kansas State Department of Education has asked that all schools share the "Fact Sheet" found below in PDF form. An accurate census not only helps with state and local government planning; it also helps project school needs and school funding.

LTMS Highlights
8th Grade Social Studies
My favorite computer game growing up was "Oregon Trail." There's nothing quite like the suspense of survival. 8th graders got to experience this through a project in social studies.
Students participated in a country-crossing simulation where they were faced with a multitude of scenarios that they had to navigate in order to reach the west coast.
Each group mapped their progress and documented the experience in both the booklet and through "diary" entries. Unfortunately, not every student survived the journey...but each student DID learn something!
6th Grade Ski Trip
Our 6th graders visited Snow Creek last week and had a awesome time. Students were forced out of their comfort zone and rose to the challenge. Check out the video below...

Girls' PE Class
Did anyone know that Mrs. Slater not only is our Activities Director and Assistant Principal, but also a PE teacher!?!?!
In addition to the mandatory health units and exercise components, Mrs. Slater finds ways for the girls to connect and play games.
This past week they wrapped up a badminton unit by taking on some teachers in friendly competition!
PAWS Family Night
PAWS organized a dodgeball tournament for the students and staff of LTMS. Twelve teams of students and one staff team competed for the golden champion headbands. This event had everything from the LT band and cheerleaders to a great group of DHS students who officiated the games. All the teams showed great sportsmanship and it was the Beastie Ballers who came away with 1st place. We are so thankful to have a parent group who puts together these types of events and can’t wait for the next one.

Mize/Starside Elementary Visits
It's time for 5th graders to start preparing for middle school, so we sent a group to our feeder elementary schools to get kids excited about the transition to LTMS.
Mr. McCracken and Mrs. Russell talked about the exploratory course offerings, and Mrs. Wible and Mr. Crady went to talk about all the cool learning that takes place at LT.
The students' favorite part, however, was that we took several of our 8th grade band members to perform! These students also served as a student panel and answered kids' questions!
