The Academy runs alongside ABC's training scheme as a sailing academy for young people who wish to sail at a much higher and competitive level. ARA has 2 full time coaches Rory Godman from New Zealand who trains our high performance 29er team and Akira Sakai who trains our younger Optimist sailors. Our teams ages range from 8 - 18.

ASAF Youth Sailing Cup - Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

Casey Law one of our talented young sailors travelled to the UAE during the Easter holidays to compete in the ASAF Youth Sailing Cup series in the Optimist. The event took place over 5 days from the 4th - 8th April. There were 60 entries to the regatta with 9 Hong Kong sailors competing. The first race saw Casey make an excellent start and he led the race from the top mark, managing to maintain his position and finish 1st Overall. A great start to the series for him. With some challenging conditions, from the the hot dry heat, delayed starts due to the Oman children finishing prayers and with some miscommunications from the jury during day 2's racing, Casey did ARA proud by finishing 6th Overall, contributing to HK winning the Nations Cup for the 3rd consecutive year. The whole team would like to congratulate Casey on his success. Well done!
