Message from Dave

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,

It has been a week of contrasting weather here on Hornsey road as Friday’s Year 1 bake sale was basked in sunshine creating a carnival atmosphere and was a great way to end the week. Thank you to all the volunteers who made it such a success. While on Tuesday we saw heavy rainfall hitting Hong Kong and disrupting classes. We thank you for your understanding as the red rainstorm signal was hoisted at 7:35 am leading to the Education Bureau cancelling classes for the day. For more information on ESF’s policies and guidelines with regard to weather warnings please click here.

Year 6 China Week and Shenzhen Trip

This week saw the start of the Year 6 unit of inquiry exploring China’s language, culture and customs. The week got off to a great start with a trip to City Hall to sample some of Hong Kong’s best Dim Sum.

The students are also learning to cook their own Chinese cuisine, try their hand at cultural dances, art and craft, Tai Chi and mastering the Diablo, as well as, honing their bargaining skills in preparation for next week’s excursion to Shenzhen.

Year 4 Camp

Our Year 4 students are very excited about their camp at Tai Tam this Thursday and Friday. There is a great deal of research promoting the benefits of outdoor education programmes as students develop self esteem, take personal responsibility, co-operate with others, enhance practical problem solving and teamwork skills whilst extending their personal horizons. In addition to this, the camp is a whole lot of fun! I’m sure they will have a great time.

A fond Farewell to Ms LeBoutte

As some of you may already know Friday 20th May will be Ms Le Boutte’s last day with us as a Year 3 Educational Assistant. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chauny for her wonderful contribution to Glenealy School. She has a great rapport with students and staff alike and is a natural in the classroom. She will be sorely missed by us all and we wish her all the best. I know we will see Ms Le Boutte back at Glenealy in the future as she has already confirmed that she will come back for the Year 3 class party at the end of Term 3.
