We're Gonna Be OK👍
Talking Points For Reconnecting With Our Kids😊
It's our goal to reconnect with all of our students and families this week with a personal phone call. We will do this by reaching out to our Advisory Groups. This is intended to show support for our students and establish needs and point them toward resources.
See the Student Information Collection Sheet button below to help collect the information we will use to further support our kids. On the bottom of the sheet, you can find your advisory tab. Please add in your student names and fill in as much pertinent information under the columns provided.
Mission: build relationships, ensure communication, support connection to resources, and support access to supplemental learning materials
Build relationships
How are you? We miss you! Is everyone staying healthy and well in your family? Etc.
If the parent works in essential services--grocery, health care, shipping/trucking--express appreciation.
Ensure communication
Have you received the emails and School Messenger calls from DSD?
If not, please check the family's contact information and let the principal know communications are not reaching this family.
Emphasize having students check their school email if they have access to important updates and activity information.
Support connections to resources
Do you need information about food service?
Do you need information on how to connect with Polk County resources? Linked below.
Support access to Dallas SD Supplemental Resources - found on our district website. Linked below.
Are you aware of the supplemental learning materials being available?
Are you able to access those resources on our district website? Do you need anything in order to access the materials?
Supplemental materials are also available for pickup at food service sites.
If you need printed materials, are you able to get to our foodservice sites to pick them up? (If not, report student name and parent name to the principal for delivery/support arrangements.)
Closing: I will be calling again to check-in. If you have any need, we can talk at that time, or you can reach me at firstname.lastname@dsd2.org.

Questions and maybe some answers👍
Standard questions that might come up with some wishy-washy answers:)
Q:
Will we come back to school this year? What about my grades?
How will we forecast for classes for next year?
Will there still be 8th-grade recognition?
Will the school year be extended?
Will there be Portland Prowl?
Answer to all the above: We are still working through details and will have better answers as we work through more details and get guidance from the state.
Q:
How do I go about registering my student for homeschool or online school?
Answer: Contact the district office with this request.
Q:
If I don't have a device can I borrow one from school?
Answer: At this time we are unable to loan students a device for home use, but we are continuing to look at solutions.
Q:
Will work completed on supplemental activities count for a grade?
Will my student be required to attend office hour sessions?
Answer: No supplemental materials and offerings are intended for review and extension for learning. We strongly encourage and would love to work with all kids, but participation shall be guided by the family and individual students.
Q:
What if I left something in the school and need to get it out?
Answer: Email jamie.richardson@dsd2.org to see if arrangements can be made.
Use This Process to Dial Up Kids
Every school in the district has a phone number that teachers will dial into before dialing families. Families will see a LaCreole/DSD caller ID and your private phone numbers will be protected.
Teacher phone contact with families: In order for your personal phone number to not show on caller ID to families, follow this procedure--
Instructions
- For LaCreole Staff call 503-917-4384 for our building
- Wait for the dial tone
- Dial the number you wish to call
- This process will connect the Caller ID showing the call is coming from the main school
