Principal Ponderings: Perspective
As she and I work through our role as parents, it forces to me to be reflective on why we do what we do at Lakeshore Middle School and how we communicate with families. There have been times in recent days where I have felt uninformed or unclear about what to do when it comes to my son and his school experience despite having more first-hand experience than a non-educator parent. My wife and I's actions at the end of the day remind me of what my intern supervisor said back in the day. "Jonathan, parents are doing the best they can, because it's the best they know how." I'm now that parent.
As Lakeshore Middle School educators, and those of us who are parents, let's continue to do the best we can, because it's the best we know how. At the same time, let's also recognize and respect the fact that the parents of our students are in the same boat.
