PTA Reflections Accepting Entries Through Friday, November 9!
PTA Reflections Art Program:
Northwest ISD school PTA chapters will accept campus entries for the Reflections art contest until Friday, November 9, with local sponsors then submitting advancing entries to the council on Nov. 26. Following the advancement process, a show for the artwork will take place Jan. 10.
Reflections is a program operated by the National PTA and its member organizations for 50 years, designed to help students explore their thoughts, feelings and ideas. The contest is open to students of all ages – from pre-kindergarten to high school seniors – and features a range of categories, including dance choreography, film, literature, music, photography and visual arts.
This year’s Texas PTA theme is “Heroes Around Me.” To download entry forms and obtain information about eligibility and participation, click here. Students must submit their entries to their local PTAs by Friday, Oct. 26, with winners required to be submitted to the Northwest ISD Council of PTAs by Monday, Nov. 26. To submit entries to local PTAs, please drop entry forms and entries together at a school front office. For more information about the Northwest ISD Council of PTAs Reflections contest, click here.
Northwest ISD’s PTA Reflections reception and art show will take place beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Northwest High School, with the formal presentation set for 7 p.m.

Campus Reminders:
- Ultimate Book Challenge: Family and Friends, are you interested in helping with the Ultimate Book Challenge? I can use help meeting with kids for mock competitions, book discussions, and parent volunteers read some of the UBC books and compete against the students for practice. Please contact Mrs. Wells at carie.wells@nisdtx.org
- Library Volunteers Needed: Friends and Family at SHE, our library needs some help with our shelves. I would love to have some volunteers come in and help organize the Non-fiction Animal area. Please email Mrs. Wells at carie.wells@nisdtx.org and let her know when you are available!
- The doors to the school will open at 7:20 a.m., and students may go either to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or to their classrooms to begin their day. To ensure student safety, please do not drop students off at school before the doors open at 7:20.
- Our school day begins promptly at 7:40 a.m. Students are expected to be present in their classrooms and ready to begin “Habit Huddle” when the 7:40 tardy bell rings. Any student who is not in their classroom, or arrives after the tardy bell, will be counted tardy. Please encourage your child to be proactive and arrive at school on time.
- The safety and security of students, staff, and visitors is a priority. All visitors must sign-in with the front office using the Raptor system to receive a visitor badge. Any visitor without a badge will be redirected to the front office. All new guests will need to scan their ID the first time they visit this year. We appreciate your patience and understanding with this safety measure.
- Please contact the school office if your child will be absent from school. This helps us verify our overall attendance for the day and properly account for all students. When your child returns to school after an absence, please be sure to send a note explaining the reason for the absence.
