Reading Challenge:
Students are really getting the hang of the expectations now! A New challenge will begin this Friday. Please remind your student to bring their independent reading book and pink reading log to school every day. Weekly reading challenges are due every Friday. * Students must write 1-2 sentences for each section of reading, even if they read more than one section in one day.
Spelling focus:
No spelling this week!
*Please be sure to check your child's planner every night! This nightly routine helps form good habits, fosters responsibility, and helps prepare children to become more independent in the future.
**Please also check in with your child about their daily behavior (color cards) and help reinforce the importance of making good/positive choices at school. Thank you.
Projects

Library News
What fun we had drawing Humpback Whales! The amazing author and illustrator Jan Brett led us through tone of her video drawing lesson. The whales are now swimming in the hallway between the Music Room and the Library. We are looking forward to our guest speaker, whale biologist, Olga von Ziegesar, presentations in this spring. She has interesting data on whale family associations---no other scientist has documented--from the years she spent in Prince William Sound.
I presented the Book: Snow Day Dance by Denise Brennan Nelson this past week. We learned from the main character Willow how to do the Snow Day Dance! We are desperate for SNOW!!!
We have many new books in the library and are enjoying your children’s enthusiasm for reading.
Thank you for your support.
Your librarians,
