A Message from Miller
Happy New Year from MMS! We have hit the ground running in 2018 at MMS. The students and teachers have done a great job of coming back from the break with a great attitude. Next week will be the final week of the 1st semester and students will be busy taking 9-Week Tests in their core areas. I have included the testing schedule for next week in the newsletter so, please look for that. So as we wrap the first semester, the second semester brings with it some very important elements.
Benchmark and STAAR testing will take place in March and May, but before that we many of our students will be competing in the UIL Academic Meet which is slated for January 26th at Anna. Basketball teams are in the middle of their season and track season will follow. The bands will have their UIL competitions and our Theater students will have a musical and dinner theater in the second semester. So as you can see we have so many opportunities for our students to shine in 2018.
As always thanks for your continued support for our campus and community. I look forward to seeing you all at upcoming events. Stay warm and Go Cards!

The Scoop from Mr. Eckert
I’m excited to announce that our school has been selected to participate in the 2018 National Assessment of Educational Progress also known as NAEP. It is the largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what students across the country know and can do in a variety of subject areas. Some of our best and brightest 8th-graders have been selected to take civics, geography, and U.S. history assessments. Parents of selected students have already been notified via email and a hard copy letter passed out to students. The test date is Wednesday, February 21st, it is during the school day, and it will take approximately 90 minutes. The assessment is not for a grade; however; it is a valuable experience for some of our students and our district. More details to follow as we move closer to our school’s test day. Thank you in advance for your involvement and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
Attached are 2 links that contain more information about this great opportunity.
Thanks and have a great day!
