Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School

April 3 - 7

Mission Statement

Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School is a living testament to our Lord's work in his youngest disciples, exemplified by academic excellence, spiritual formation, and compassionate service to others.

Preparing for Holy Week

I will continue to pray that we all take the time to reflect and pray with our families as we journey into Holy Week.

We are looking for student volunteers (all ages) to come to evening Masses in uniform on Holy Thursday and Good Friday to serve as greeters. We will need approximately six volunteers for the evening Mass on Holy Thursday and six volunteers for the Good Friday evening Mass. Please contact if your child is interested in helping serve as a welcomer or greeter.

I am so very grateful and will continue prayers of thanks for the opportunity to serve among such faith-filled and passionate people of God. Thank you for sharing your most precious gifts with us. Our SMG students are filled with so much love and so many talents and gifts. It is so inspiring to watch each student mature and grow. What a blessing it is to have such a dynamic and Christ-centered community!

2016-2017 Dinner Dance Chairs

On Sunday, April 30, 2017, SMG will once again participate in the Stephen Breen Memorial Foundation Spirit Games. This foundation has been a tremendous help in offering financial assistance to those families seeking the traditional values and academic excellence SMG offers to students and families. At present, the Stephen Breen Foundation has helped several SMG families with tuition assistance. This is an incredible blessing, and we are so very grateful for the help received from the foundation. We would like to be the number one participating school this year to show our gratitude! Please visit the SMG website and click on the Stephen Breen Memorial Foundation link to register online for this fun-filled event. Students may wear their Stephen Breen Memorial Foundation Spirit Game t-shirts to school on Friday spirit days.

See you on Sunday, April 30th to celebrate Mass with the Bishop on Nolan's football field, enjoy live music by our very own Mr. Smith, and have lots of fun with SMG's sponsored dunk booth along with many other booth activities and field events!

Building Champions Breakfast

Thank you to our amazing fifth grade families for providing such a wonderful breakfast for the third quarter Building Champions Breakfast! Thank you, also, to our eighth grade leadership team for guiding the fifth graders through team building and leadership activities. What a great way to build our leaders!

Congratulations to Nina Marquino for earning a spot on the Nolan Cheer Team at last week's tryouts!

Eleven delegates from the NCHS Model United Nations team traveled to San Antonio to participate in the St. Mary's Hall MUN Conference. The theme was "Finding an Equilibrium," and as delegates representing the United Kingdom, South Korea, and characters in two very interesting crisis committees, our Viking students did us proud. SMG graduate and Nolan Senior, Kurt Hardee, won Best Delegate (the highest committee award!) for his role as King Richard the Lionhearted in a crisis committee dealing with the Third Crusade.

Lord, may we all take the time to reflect on the opportunities and challenges you have placed before us during this Lenten season. May we all be grateful for the blessings you have offered. Give us the strength to continue your work in educating and growing your children closer to you. Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to serve your children as parents, educators, and faith-filled supporters. Please grant us the courage to turn to you and be open as well as accepting to your call. Amen.
