Mountain View Weekly Update
January 20
Announcements & Updates
- It's not too late to sign up for an HSA Winter Enrichment club. There are only a few spots remaining for Field Hockey and Volleyball. Art Service and Theatre Troupe are also available and have several openings. To sign up, click here .
- Attention 8th grade parents:
- The deadline to register your child for Mendham High School is today. Please refer to the instructions sent to your home address from the West Morris Mendham High School District.
- Please carefully review the contents of the email from Mrs. Toth and Mrs. Lanka, sent this morning, as it contains important information regarding high school scheduling conferences.
- Supervision does not begin until 8:15 a.m. Students should not arrive to school prior to 8:15 a.m. as doors are locked and unsupervised. This includes inclement weather days; students will wait outside until the supervising teacher opens the doors.
- Students should only arrive at school earlier than 8:15 for clubs, the Lions' Den, or extra help (by appointment). Access to the building will be through the front door only. Students must ring the "doorbell" and state their destination prior to gaining entry to the building. Those students who do not have a club meeting, extra help appointment, or other purpose for entering the building will not be permitted to enter and will be instructed to wait outside in front of their grade-level entry doors.
- On days in which there is a delayed opening, there are no before-school activities, which include Technology Lab, Art Studio, and extracurricular clubs. Supervision begins at 10:15.
- Attention Spring athletes: Spring sports tryouts are tentatively scheduled for March 11 - 13. Sports forms must be submitted to the Health Office by Friday, February 28. Please click here for more information.
- In Advisory today, students focused on sharpening their social and emotional awareness by exploring the difference between intellectual intelligence (I.Q.) and emotional intelligence (E.Q). More specifically, they discussed why it's important to read the facial expressions of others accurately, and how this leads to better communication, cooperation, and more peaceful conflict resolution when needed. Students also discussed how understanding someone else's feelings helps us better demonstrate empathy both at home and in school. Ask your child which facial expressions they role-played with their Advisory-mates today, and which were the easiest to read, and which were more challenging!
