Hello Fronteras Families!
Wow, what a great week back from spring break! It’s still hard to grasp that we’re already at this point in the year! Because our temperature is consistently rising with our growing daylight, our snow is both melting and turning to ice. Because of this ice, we are cancelling all sled riding during recesses. Eventually the hill will be closed completely, to protect the grass that has been under the snow all winter. Please support us by reminding your child(ren) that there are no more sledding days at Fronteras.
Also, we are still recommending that snow pants are worn during recess. As the snow/ice melts, kiddos are getting wet pants and that is not a comfortable feeling for the afternoon. The policy remains that if snow pants are not on a body, that body does not slide on the hill.
Please remember to join us at the Sullivan Arena this Sunday for Fronteras Day at the Aces!
One of our fabulous dads made a comment this morning in passing, and I thought it was a great suggestion to share with all of our families who drive their kiddo(s) to school . . . on Wednesdays, it would be okay to drop off at 8am. That way, you and/or your child(ren) are not waiting those 15 extra minutes while we are in our weekly staff meeting. Schedules are all different, so if it works to drop off closer to 8:00, please feel free to do so.

Saturday of Science Success!
A HUGE thank you to all of the volunteers who came and helped host the second annual Fronteras Saturday of Science. The classes were awesome, and the students had a wonderful time. The students were fully engaged as they learned all about sound, building paper cup telephones and paper flutes, enjoying noise in many forms. As far as noise goes, the students sure sounded like they were having the time of their lives learning about air and flight as they made paper airplanes, paper helicopters, and even parachutes! The students continued their science learning and discovery as they moved from things that float in air, to building boats and learning all about density. The students and their parents made a splash, designing, building, and testing their cardboard boats. After sinking their creations, students enjoyed learning about a part of science that does not mix well with water…electricity. After learning some of the basics of electricity, the students were able to build their own flashlights, using material they might have at home. It is always fun to shine a light on learning. What would a Saturday of Science be like without also having a class where you get to explore life? Probably not as awesome as ours turned out to be! We were so lucky to be able to dissect starfish, carp, and mussels exploring the life that is found under the sea. Thank you to all the students and parents who came and made this day fabulous and once again to all of the volunteers who came and shared some science with us. We hope to see you all next year as we have fun learning science!
