What a Great Year!

It's been a great year and I can't believe that it's almost over! Here in the Media Center we've had so much fun this year with our Makerspace events, 3D printing, March is Reading Month events, Authors in April, VH Today news broadcasts, teaching classes, and more!! We've checked out over 5,000 books this year and checked out over 3,500 lunch passes for lunch time visits! It's been a wonderful, busy year!

I hope that everyone has a great summer! Check out the links listed below for some great summer reading and making activities that you can participate in!

Books are Due!

It's almost summer! That means it's also time to start making sure that all library books are turned in!

  • The last day to check out a VHMS library book is Friday, May 27
  • ALL books are due by Friday, June 3

Please be respectful of these dates so that we have enough time to perform inventory and close up the Media Center for the summer. Overdue notices are sent every couple weeks through the months of May and June to the email address that you gave when registering your child.

If your child has lost their book/s, they will be charged a fine so that we may replace the book. Fine notices will come by email after June 3.

Please pay all fines by Friday, June 10. Checks can be made out to RCS. Any student who does not pay their fine, will have to do so at registration next year. If you have any questions, please email me at

Thank you for helping to make sure that all books are turned in or paid for so that students have them available next year.

Thank You Volunteers!

Many, many thanks to our wonderful volunteers this year! We had a volunteer in the Media Center almost every day this year-more than ever before! Thanks to our volunteers, books were sorted, shelved, and processed so that students always had great new books to check out. Laminating for teachers was completed and special Media Center projects were done. Best of all, we were able to keep the Media Center open for all three lunches daily! Our great volunteers helped to make sure that the Media Center was always open, available, and welcoming to our students! I can't thank you all enough for volunteering your time regularly to help out in our Media Center! It is so very much appreciated!

A special thank you to Kelly Brooks for helping to coordinate volunteers and create the volunteer schedules. THANK YOU!

I hope that all of our wonderful volunteers will attend the Volunteer Tea on May 20 at 9:00 am in the Media Center to celebrate!

Stay Tuned...

Though this will be the final Media Center Newsletter for the 2015-2016 school year, I will be sending out the VHMS Media Center End of the Year Report with details on circulation, highlights, and more in an upcoming edition of the Viking Weekly!
