Introduction
Diabetes is a terrible disease. It occurs when your body does not use insulin properly (type 2 diabetes). Insulin is a hormone that keeps the amount of glucose in your blood regular. My driving question is how can we help educate children about diabetes? I chose this topic because diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death and I would like to help Americans live longer and be healthy.
How do I know I have diabetes?
Some symptoms of type 2 diabetes can be fatigue, blurry vision, slow healing sores, hunger, and thirst. Also some darker areas of skin can appear. If you have diabetes your blood sugar will be very high.
How can I prevent diabetes without medication?
Type 2 diabetes is actually not difficult to prevent. All you have to do is maintain a healthy weight and diet, exercise daily, and DO NOT SMOKE. Keeping your blood sugar down is key to keeping diabetes out of your life.
