FRONTIER EAGLE NEWS
February 2022
A Note from the FMS Administrative Team
It's hard to believe that February is upon us! Second semester is off to a wonderful start for our students, who are working hard and persevering, in spite of the challenges they continue to face. As always, we appreciate the continued support that is provided at home! Effective partnerships between home and school are vital for reaching optimal levels of student success.
February is a busy month at FMS. Our eighth grade students will begin to work to formulate their schedules for high school, while our seventh grade students will finalize their elective choices for next year. We also have many calendar changes, which are noted within our newsletter.
Please continue to reach out to us with questions or concerns that may arise. We are happy to support our FMS community in any way we can!
Sincerely,
Dr. Laura Rowe, Principal
Mr. Kevin Kuehl, 7th Grade Assistant Principal
Mr. Stan Johnson, 8th Grade Assistant Principal

After-School Academic Assist
This is a friendly reminder that our After-School Academic Assist (AAA) Program is in full-swing again throughout the second semester. If students need after-school help, they may report to the following rooms on each respective day:
Monday: Petty (812)
Tuesday: Arnold (309)
Wednesday: Chrum (402)
Thursday: VanHoy (706)
Each session will run from 2:35-3:35 PM. Students will need for their rides to pick them up at 3:35 PM in the front of the building.
Important Information Regarding Upcoming Dates
There will be no school on Friday, February 18. FMS's office will be closed on that particular day.
We will also not be having school on Monday, February 21 in observance of Presidents Day, or on Tuesday, February 22, which is a Professional Development Day for staff.
Classes will resume on Wednesday, February 23, with our normal school hours.
Raptor Security System Information
Part of keeping students and staff safe is knowing who is in our building at all times, so we are rolling out a system to allow us to do just that. Effective January 24, 2022, WSD visitors will check in to our buildings using Raptor, a new visitor management system designed to assist with building security.
What does that mean for you?
When you arrive in a WSD building as a visitor, you will be asked to scan your ID, take a photo and complete the management system’s check-in process.
Raptor will screen the information against sex offender databases and locally customized lists of banned or potentially threatening individuals, instantly alert school officials to a threatening presence, and maintain a searchable log of all visitors.
Once approved, you will get a customized visitor badge to wear while in the building.
Thank you for your support as we roll this out and enhance school safety protocols!
Parents or guardians who are only picking up a child for the day will not need to use the visitor management system.
