✏️Welcome Back to School📚
This is going to be a great year and we are all excited to reconnect, learn and grow together.
This newsletter contains all the information for a great start on Tuesday, but if you have any further questions, please reach out to us in the office.
We are Proud to be a Pirate with all of you.
-Mrs. Hoff and Dr. Adams
Thank you to our STUCO for all their time this week helping decorate our school to welcome our staff and students back to school!
💻 Technology at Lunch Change for this Year📵
This year we are focusing on reconnecting with each other! To support this and encourage appropriate social behavior, we are making a change with technology (cell phones and Chromebooks) during lunch. In the past, technology was allowed during lunch, but we are going to shift that so conversations and being present with our classmates is our priority over technology.
There will be times for tech at lunch as an incentive for positive behavior, but to start the year, we want our Barry family to spend their lunch time engaging with each other in real life!
We appreciate your support and encourage our families to discuss this adjustment with your students this weekend.
📅Upcoming Events!📅
August 29 - Band Instrument Rental Night - 5:45 - 9:00 PM
August 30 - School Picture Day
August 30 - 6th Grade Parent Transition Night - 6PM
Start of the School Day Procedures
The doors open for students at 7:25
When students enter the building they have two choices, go to the commons for breakfast or report to their classrooms.
🚗 Pick up and Drop Off Procedures Below
We want our students and staff to feel comfortable with our routines, so we are asking that parents drop off their students with our normal procedures and not accompany them into their class at the start of the day.
If you are planning on dropping off and/or picking up your student, please follow the procedures below. We appreciate your patience these first few days while we all get comfortable with our procedures for the year!
During the school year, all visitors will be asked to check in with the office upon arrival at school prior to entering the school. Hall Pass Visitor Management system has been installed in all of our schools to improve overall building safety/security and visitor management. The Hall Pass Visitor Management system will:
Conduct a screening on each visitor using the sex offender registry
Will log in volunteers to track their hours
Will be used to document late arriving students.
Whenever any non-student or non-district employee requests to enter any area of the building where children are accessible, essentially beyond the front office, they will be asked to produce a government issued ID:
State driver’s license
State issued ID
Passport
US Military ID
Permanent resident card
The ID will be scanned and a badge will be given to visitors. This process is key to continuing to maintain and improve a safe and caring environment for our students and staff. A visitor’s badge needs to be worn at all times while visiting the school.

We are so very blessed to have an incredibly supportive PTSA here at Barry! They have a big year planned for both our students and staff.
Check out their August Newsletter below for the upcoming events and membership information!
Locker Information
Lockers are not assigned this year to students, but information will be sent in the first month of school for an opportunity to request a locker!
LiveSchool Information
As a parent, you can sign up for a Live School account to view your child's points data. You can also sign up to receive a weekly summary! Students can acquire and lose points throughout the day as a result of their behavior. This is a great way to see where your child shines and where they could use additional support. Reach out to our office for your parent access code.
Below is the LiveSchool form shared with parents at Back to School Night.

The price for this insurance is $40. Please note that this is an increase from previous years. Click on the link here for more information and to register your Chromebook. Here is a video to walk you through the process. Feel free to call our office if you have any questions.
Notes from the Nurse:
8th Graders - Required Vaccinations
The state of Missouri requires that all incoming 8th-grade students be vaccinated for Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and MCV (meningococcal) prior to starting their 8th grade school year.
All 8th grade students who cannot provide proof of having the Tdap and MCV being given will not be able to start the 2022-23 school year. Students will NOT receive their schedules at back-to-school events and will NOT be able to start on the first day of school next year until proof of the vaccines being given is provided.
Please reach out to our school nurse with any questions (thomask@platteco.k12.mo.us).
