Rosa Parks Journal
Week of January 4th
Ready, Set, GO!!!!!!!!
"A positive learning climate in a school for young children is a composite of many things. It is an attitude that respects children. It is a place where children receive guidance and encouragement from the responsible adults around them. It is an environment where children can experiment and try out new ideas without fear or failure. It is an atmosphere that builds children’s self-confidence so they dare to take risks. It is an environment that nurtures a love of learning." ~Carol B. Hillman
Happy New Year!!! I hope all of you enjoyed the holiday season and the time with your family and loved ones. We are looking forward to a fabulous second semester of school.
As we begin the second half of our school year, we will continue our focus on excellence in teaching and learning. Our goal is to ensure that every child receives a world-class education. We are committed to providing each student with engaging lessons that challenge them to learn at the highest level. We will continue to work collaboratively as a team to create the most effective learning environment for all of our students, encouraging them to be positive leaders and role models for others. We are committed to the success of each student and hope that every student will feel connected to school through positive relationships with each other and our staff.
With a New Year, there comes some changes that will help ensure that we continue to do what's best for our children.
1. Breakfast: Due to ongoing issues with rodents and bugs we will begin serving breakfast in the cafeteria. We will continue to open doors at 8:30am. Students will enter and immediately be served breakfast. Once students finish with breakfast, they will proceed to the classroom area. Students will enter the classroom at 8:45am. At that time please prepare some meaningful and engaging work for students to work on until the 9:00am tardy bell ring.
2. BLT Walkthroughs: The BLT will be conducting walkthroughs through our building. The purpose of these walkthroughs is to provide us with some information that may help each us work on continuing to move Rosa Parks in the "right direction". These observations will NON-EVALUATIVE!!!!!
3. Staff Walkthroughs: Staff you would have the opportunity to visit other teacher classrooms. The purpose of these walkthroughs is for us to help each other! Sometimes we can learn things from looking at things through a different lens. Please Note this is opportunity to provide each other with feedback and once again they are NON-EVALUATIVE!!!.
To put it simple: Rosa Parks is notably one of the finest schools in this area! Based upon our schools report card over the years we have continued to grow our students. However the work is not done YET! We must continue to push our students to their highest potential ! Which means YOU as the educator must continue to push, plan, and be prepared to serve our students DAILY!
