LMHS NTI 2.0 Orientation Questions Answered!
Q: How long will be doing NTI this year?
A: JCPS has chosen to revisit the options for returning to in person classes after the 1st six weeks. The 1st six weeks wraps up the first week of October. Stay tuned to JCPS and LMHS announcements for up to date information.
Q: What day do we officially start online coursework?
A: NTI 2.0 for students will begin on Tuesday, August 25th - students will be on their Purple Day classes, and the next day will be their purple schedule.
Q: What will happen during PE and JROTC classes? Will they still “meet”?
A: Yes! They will be holding the virtual classes and will encourage students to get physical activity in their days as well.
Q: When will the school bookstore be open for students/parents to buy LMHS gear?
A: We look forward to opening the school bookstore once visitors to the building are once again allowed by JCPS. Additionally, we will be sending links that will allow students, parents, guardians, alumni, etc. to purchase items virtually. We will send this out very soon.
Q: Are their dress code requirements for virtual NTI courses?
A: The only expectation on student dress is that students should wear clothing that covers themselves appropriately and that any messages/designs should not contain vulgar or offensive material.
Q: What should we do with old textbooks/materials from last year?
A: Put them in a safe place for now. Once we have permission to have visitors to the building we will ask that those be returned.
Q: I am in Co-op. What time am I cleared to stop NTI for the day?
A: Seniors in Co-op should finish their second block class times, which could last until 11AM. They are clear to proceed from that point to their Co-op locations.
Q: Will students have textbooks or online materials?
A: Most teachers have chosen to use online materials at this time. AP Psychology and Upper Level Latin are the only textbooks needed at this time.
Q: I have a Dr. Appointment during one of my virtual class meetings. What should I do?
A: If you know ahead of time, let your teacher know. This way they can help direct you to the resources that you need to catch up on what you missed. If it’s an emergency, please let your teachers know as soon as possible so they can work with you to determine next steps.
Q: Any word on athletics?
A: Stay up to date on JCPS and LMHS announcements for the most up to date information.
Q: What school supplies will my student need?
A: For now, just the basics. Paper, writing materials, folders for organization, etc. Refer to each teacher portal page for anything more specific.
REMINDER: Please update ALL contact information!!
Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) is urging families to verify that their contact information is up-to-date, and that they are registered to receive text messages from JCPS as the district prepares for the start of Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI).
Up-to-date email addresses and phone numbers will be important for families who need to request a Chromebook and/or hotspot for the upcoming school year. Communication from a student’s school and teachers also requires a valid email or phone number.
With job changes and work from home scenarios, existing email addresses may no longer be valid and need updating. For families currently receiving district and school emails and text messages, no action is needed at this time.
To ensure parents and guardians are receiving information from JCPS, they are encouraged to take the following steps:
To make sure you receive text messages, simply opt in to School Messenger by texting Y to 67587. You MUST opt in to this system to receive text messages. Even if JCPS has your correct phone number on file, you won’t receive text messages if you haven’t opted in to School Messenger.
To receive emails from the district and your child’s school, you must have your current email address in our JCPS system. Information can be updated in the Parent Portal. If you do not have a Parent Portal login, you can set up an account here.
If you have an existing account, go to Parent Portal and click “Log on to the Parent Portal.”
- Choose Campus Parent
- Enter log in credentials (user name and password)
- Click More
- Click Family Information
- Click Update (correct your information then click ‘Update’ again)
Families who have previously “unsubscribed” to emails from JCPS, or reported the emails as spam, will not receive future emails.
JCPS’ first day is scheduled for August 25th.
Follow JCPS online on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

For ANY LMHS Student Needing a Chromebook or Wi-Fi Hotspot:
CHROMEBOOK REQUESTS
Beginning Monday, August 10 at 9:00 a.m., families can request a device or an internet hotspot by visiting the JCPS website and filling out a request form. Families will need to put in their email address or phone number that matches district records, and answer a few questions. Also starting Monday, families without internet access and the ability to submit an online request form can contact their child’s school or the JCPS call center at 313-HELP (4357). Individual schools will notify families within a couple of weeks if their Chromebook or Wi-Fi hotspot request is approved and handle distribution of the devices.
