Chile declared its independence in 1810, decisive victory over spanish was not achieved until 1818. The three-year-old marxist government of savador allende was over thrown in 1973. Chile as increasingly assumed regional and interational leadership roles befitting its status as a stable, bomoratic nation. in january of 2014, Chile assumed a two-year nonpermanet seat on the UN security council.

Location

Southern siuth America, borders the south Pacific Ocean.

Climate

temperate; deseret in the north, cool and damp in the south.

Terrain

low coastal mountains, fertile central valley, rugged andes in the east.

Volcanism

Significant volcanic activity, active volcanoes alone the Andes mountains, erupted in 2007, is most active in Northern chilean Andes, Llama in chile erupted in 2009
