Fire Drill This Morning
We had a fire drill this morning that was actually not a drill at all. A compressor on one of our air conditioning units burned out and the smell traveled to one of our 3rd grade classrooms. That teacher acted quickly and pulled the fire alarm so that the school could be evacuated and the fire department could inspect the odor. Once the fire department gave us the all clear to return into the building, our staff was hard at work shuffling the day's events. We are happy to report that all of the students were able to get to their lunch within 30 minutes of their normal time, and the PAWS parties were able to be re-scheduled for the afternoon. We did have to re-schedule a few of our Math DA's; all of 4th grade and some of our 2nd grade classes will now test first thing Monday morning.
We are very proud of the way that our students and staff handled themselves during this event. Each and every staff member worked quickly and diligently to ensure everyone's safety and our students' behavior was exemplary. The fire captain was impressed with everyone, and so are we!
