The Bear Necessities

UCM Students

We have UCM students in the building each Monday this semester. You will also see Dr Snider shadowing her students. These students are Juniors in the early education program at UCM and are doing practicum work in our classrooms. Each of the 8 students has on a badge, but feel free to ask them a little about themselves and welcome them. I think the second part of this semester, they may want to get into other classrooms to see what others do, we all know the power of observation in different settings!!

Greetings for students

A reminder that we believe each child should be personally greeted each day. Please make sure that someone for your classroom is at the door making that personal, on their level connection each day. It is NOT appropriate for us to require kids to say hello to all the adults in the hall. A child is greeted by 10 plus adults each day, we greet them because we are thrilled to see them and for no other reason. No pressure on them please. Just send smiles and love!!

Conscious Discipline Training, April 6th, hold that date open

We will be finalizing soon, but it looks like Jill will be here to work with staff the morning of April 6th. Please hold that morning open for training. I know this is a hard time of year for that, so if you need an exception, you need to speak to me about it and we will figure it out.

More info to come

Feb 2-11

I am here today, as Jeff took her to OU for the college audition. I am however, leaving for a 9 day venture to Boston and New York. Just Anna and I for a whole lot of auditioning

Jeanie is of course in charge during my absence, please make sure to call the front office if you need help quickly, as emails aren't always checked when you run these programs alone!! We have a fabulous team and I know that all will be well in my absence!!

Reminders:

  • Staff Absence: If you secure a Para sub through the District, please include the sub’s name in your email to the office.

  • Mail procedure instructions and mail supplies are in the File Room. Please remember to place KC Presort slip on mail and secure with a rubber band.

  • Please notify the office if a Title student is now eligible to receive Special Education services. Please place the Title cumulative file in the brown file.

  • Regarding time off requests, classified staff will still need to request the entire time off. If they request 4 hours and they return after 4 hours plus some, they will need to modify this time off request or work the extra time before the end of the week.
