Muskego Lakes Family Newsletter
February 17th, 2023
Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
According to Wilbraham and Monson (2023), “building a sense of community in schools is the root of all academic, personal and social momentum.”
Today we had another Community Day at Muskego Lakes, and it was AWESOME!!
From making duct tape pencil pouches to brownie batter dip to rustic signs, our students were able to select from a variety of options to design, create, and have fun together. We had grade level dances, karaoke, homeroom challenges, Minute to Win It games, and more.
We asked students throughout the day what was the best part of today, and they told us:
“It’s fun to get to be mixed up with other students.”
“It was awesome to have a day to be a kid.”
“So many cool activities for us!”
“It’s fun to do different things with teachers who we didn’t know before today.”
“It made my day to hear kids cheering for me during the homeroom challenge.”
“I like seeing everyone smiling and enjoying being together.”
“My teachers get really into it, and that makes my day.”
“I liked trying new things”
“I love this is how we ended our week.”
We know that for some students, these days that are out of their routine can be hard. So we do our best to preview their schedules for the day, pair students up with someone they are comfortable with, and check in throughout the day.
Our hope for this day is that students got to know other students who they may otherwise not have classes with. Our hope is that they stepped out of their comfort zones, explored interests they may not have known they had, and made memories that will help them feel connected to their school and to one another.
Huge thanks to our PTO and to all the families who donated through the Amazon Wish List to make this day possible.
Huge thanks to all of the members of the Muskego Lakes staff who spent months planning for today. And thanks to all of the staff who donated supplies, organized games, led sessions, supervised students, and spent the day investing in relationship building with students.
“A true community is not just about being geographically close to someone or part of the same social web network. It’s about feeling connected and responsible for what happens. Everyone plays a crucial role.” - Y. Berg
Enjoy the long weekend ahead, and we look forward to seeing your children again on Tuesday!
With love,
Nancy and Rach

If you chose the automatic booking mode, you'll see provisional appointments which are held for 2 minutes. To keep them, choose Accept at the bottom left.
If it wasn’t possible to book every selected teacher during the times you are able to attend, you can either adjust the teachers you wish to meet with and try again, or switch to manual booking mode (Step 6b).

Skip this step if you chose Automatic.
Click any of the green cells to make an appointment. Blue cells signify where you already have an appointment. Grey cells are unavailable.
To change an appointment, delete the original by hovering over the blue box and clicking Delete. Then choose an alternate time.

Authorization to Obtain and Disclose Information
We often have requests from families to communicate with outside providers and/or family members that are not biological parents (i.e. step-parent/grandparent). However, we are unable to do that without permission. To grant that permission, you will need to complete and submit to Student Services the Release of Information document.
Once this document is filled out, it allows us to learn or share information with those individuals. In addition, our student services team can work with your outside provider (pediatrician, counselor, therapist, psychiatrist, etc.) to ensure that strategies or plans can stay consistent between home and school. Teachers also need the release form emailed or sent to Student Services with the rating scale and teachers’ names to complete any assessment tools doctors give.
