Ruby Bridges is a civil rights activist that was well known for being the first African American to attend a white elementary school. She was born on September 8, 1954, in Tylertown, Mississippi. She would end up graduating high school. It was a start to an end of racial segregation in the South as she was one of the six black students to attend a white elementary school. Today, she graduated college at Tulane University and organized a foundation called the Ruby Bridges Foundation, that is headquartered in New Orleans, which focuses on the values of respect and seeks to end racial discrimination
