Jordan's Monthly Pathway News - November 2018

“The ability of a group of people to do remarkable things hinges on how well those people can pull together as a team.” Simon Sinek, Together is Better

November was a month of collaboration, having a team-first mindset, and putting in some hard work. Thank you to everyone who made it happen this month at J-Town!

8th Graders Visit J-Town for Pathway Workshops

To give our 8th graders the chance to experience Jordan, we turned our traditional Shadow Day on it's head! After sending a bus to pick up our future Panthers at our four major feeder schools, students arrived to a red carpet, band and cheer welcome. Our counseling team served them lunch and they ate while being entertained.

After lunch, they were treated to a J-Town Update - Special Edition made just for them. This video bulletin gave them an overview of our school, highlighting programs, events and places they can look forward to when they attend Jordan next year.

Led by our amazing Student Ambassadors, five groups of 8th graders participated in rotations to all five Pathways. During each stop, the future Panthers received a brief overview of the Pathway and participated in an engaging activity.

The students could not stop talking about how excited they were to come to Jordan next year! They said things like, "People here are so nice!" "It seems like you guys really care about us." "There is so much to do here at Jordan!"

To cap off the day, a group of future panthers burst out in an impromptu chant of, "JORDAN, JORDAN, JORDAN ...." A great day was had by all!

Site Night in Uptown!

"Oh, the weather outside is frightful ..." but Jordan's Site Night was so delightful! Panthers did not allow the rain to ruin our event, we just moved it inside! Families braved the storm and came to Jordan's Site Night, on Thursday, November 29th. Student ambassadors met families at the door and directed them to the action!

Jordan's Dance and the Latin American Student Society (LASS) teams performed in the Black Box Theater. Pathways gave families a taste of what their 8th grade student can look forward to next year. Parent groups like PTA and Boosters were selling food and Jordan gear.

It turned out to be a great night.

A special thanks to Megan Kerr for always supporting us ... even in the rain!

SSI Help is Here!

Do you have questions about how to integrate your Pathway industry theme into your lessons without veering from your curriculum and getting you off track?

Do you feel like teaching an SSI lesson is a stand-alone lesson that you possibly are not qualified to teach?

FEAR NO MORE!

If you would like one-on-one assistance with any portion of SSI (a brainstorming partner, co-planning, co-teaching, friendly feedback on a lesson, etc) just complete the short SSI Assistance Request Form. I will contact you that same day so we can set up a time that is convenient for you and work together. This is also great for a department or Pathway session!

Happy integrating!
