Parent-Teacher Conference Information
Dear Delaney School Families,
Trimester 1 conferences to discuss your child's progress, are scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday, December 5 and the evening of Thursday, December 6.
The staff and I believe that the attainment of educational objectives are best achieved when there is a close home-school relationship and cooperation between parents and teachers. This relationship is dependent upon effective communication. It is essential that the teacher have a clear knowledge and understanding of what happens to the child in the home; likewise, it is necessary that the parent be aware of the role of the school and its influence on the child's development. One of the best means of establishing effective home-school relationships is the parent-teacher conference.
Since a successful parent-teacher conference is a joint enterprise, we ask that you arrive prepared with the following information for the conference:
- Your child's behavior at home.
- Health habits, including eating, sleeping and general disposition.
- Use of time out of school, including play, reading, study habits, television, iPods, hobbies and interests.
- Relationship with parents, other members of the family, friends, and neighbors.
- Attitude toward authority and ability to accept direction.
- Observations of your child's home and community life, which you feel, will help the teacher "know" your child.
- Your child's feelings about school.
- Questions you may want to ask about your child and his/her progress.
- Suggestions which would help the teacher work more effectively with your child.
We know that preparation on your part will help us reach our mutual objective of a high level of communication and a high level of understanding.
Sincerely,
Miss Kathleen Maloney
