Things that go BUMP in the night!
While still in high school, I discovered the Stephen King section at my public library . My fascination with King started the moment I began to read The Stand. I remember for several months after I finished that book, every time I sneezed I was sure it was because I had the mutated flu bug from King's novel. Soon I devoured The Shining, Salem's Lot, Carrie, and Pet Cemetery, but the book that taught me to fear storm drains and clowns was It. That book scared me so badly that I was forced to sleep not only with my cat tucked in beside me, but with the overhead lights on. It was the scariest thing I have ever read, still. That is one of the great things about scary stories- they have the power to transfer a reader into a terrifying world while still keeping one foot planted within the safe confines of reality.

Malice
Everyone’s heard of Malice, but hardly anyone has actually seen it: a comic about a horrifying world of tricks and traps, overseen by the sinister master of ceremonies, Tall Jake. The story goes that the kids who go through Tall Jake’s deadly trials are real kids, who’ve disappeared from the real world and turned up in the comic. But it’s just an urban legend, right? Seth and Kady think so. Until their friend Luke tells them that he’s found a copy of Malice, and the next day he disappears without trace. Seth and Kady investigate, and in doing so, they discover the awful truth. The legends are true. Malice is real.
Fracture
Eleven minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. She was dead. And yet she somehow defied medical precedent to come back seemingly fine-despite the scans that showed significant brain damage. Everyone wants Delaney to be all right, but she knows she's far from normal. Pulled by strange sensations she can't control or explain, Delaney finds herself drawn to the dying. Is her altered brain now predicting death, or causing it?
