Definitions and Examples of Literary Terms.
Consonance - Repetition of internal or ending consonant sounds of words close together in poetry.
Example of Consonance - Look, Nook, Hook, Book, Cook
Personification- The author gives human qualities to an object or animal.
Example of Personification- A fish has a car
Characterization- The process authors use to develop characters and create images of the characters for the audience.
Example- Some have 2 feet, some have 4, some have 6 or more.
Onomatopoeia- It is a word that mimics the sound of the object or action it refers to.
Example- Bump! Bump! Bump!
Simile- Compares two things by using the words like or as
Example- This one is quiet as a mouse.
