Ranch Style Home
Looks of the style
The home style I chose was the ranch style, which is shown above. These homes are usually low to the ground, being a one story home with a low pitched roof. They are usually made of stone, wood or stucco, being neutral colors. They have some plants around them for some outer decoration.
History and cost of Ranch homes
The ranch style homes started to make their appearances in the 1920s. They are roughly based off of the Spanish-Colonial architecture with Modern style touches to the style. The floor plan of the home style is usually open, this being one of the reasons it was and is such a common home in America. The "big boom" of the home was from the 1940s to the 1970s. The homes have a wide cost ranging from around $150,000 to $300,000 depending on the size and floor plan.
Materials to make the homes
Wood is used for a lot of ranch homes, from the exterior of the home to the floors and decorations. Stone is used for the same reasons as wood. These are used a lot because they are easy materials to get a hold of, because they are all around. Some ranch homes use brick for decorative reasons and concrete for floors as well as foundation. They use glass for windows and metal for decoration.
