Monk Fryston Weekly News 16.4.21

Welcome Back!

Welcome back! We hope that everyone had a pleasant and relaxing Easter, and it has been great to see our children come back to school refreshed and with positive attitudes. We are all looking forward to an excellent and productive term.

Covid Restrictions starting to lift

We are delighted that Covid restrictions have started to lift nationally. It certainly seems like we are returning to normality at last. We are, naturally, taking a cautious approach in school and the protective measures that we have initiated will remain in place for the majority of this term. When we are advised that it is safe to do so, we will ease these measures in a controlled way and will inform you as this happens.

Cycle, scoot or walk to school week 19.4.21

Next week, our school is participating in the Sustrans cycle, scoot or walk to school event. This has been suggested by our Eco Warriors and they have prepared a video for all classes introducing the idea, click the link below to view it. Every day, the number of children who cycle, scoot or walk to school (or at least some of the way) will be counted and entered into a national database. There are great prizes to be won by classes and schools, so please help us to do our bit and encourage your child to join in if they are able.

Learning Review Day 30.4.21

Don’t forget that our Learning Review day will take place on 30th April. School will be closed to pupils on that day as it is an allocated INSET day.

Online Safety & Strategies.

Don’t forget that our website has useful advice regarding online safety and strategies that you can use to make sure that your child is not taking risks when they are on devices at home. This can be found under the ‘Parents’ tab.

Read for Good - Local Lockdown Writeups

My name is Lauren and I live locally with my sister Freya. I have started a short story competition to raise money for charity (Read for Good)

In this event people will write short stories on their lockdown experience. All the money raised from this will go to the charity ‘Read for Good’. This charity provides books for children in hospitals. We thought this was a good idea as our lockdown has been very difficult and so it must be even harder for the children in hospitals. There are 3 different age groups: under 10, 10 – 15, 16+ with prizes for each of the age group winners.

The competition is open until the 7th May. There is more information on the facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Local.lockdown.write.ups/
