Save the Date for Open House
Semester 2 Open House will be held on February 7 @ 6:00 ppm. This Open House gives parents and teachers the opportunity to meet their new semester 2 classes. It also gives parents who may have missed the first open house at the beginning of the year a chance to see their child’s school and follow the new semester schedule.
In the event that there is no school on Feb 7, a "snow day" Open House, is scheduled for February 13.

Notes from the Music Department
On Saturday, 1/26, the East Jazz Ensemble performed at the Berklee High School Jazz Festival. We feature many of students as soloists on three tunes: Catchin' The Trane - a great jazz/blues tune, Placid - a beautiful ballad, and Garaje Gato - a hot Latin chart. We were also privileged to watch and listen to some of the best high school jazz groups in the country!
On Friday, February 8th, the Cranston East Alumni Band Association is hosting a fundraising event: Are You Smarter Than A Band Geek? See the flyer attached. Contact Mr. Arsenault: garsenault@cpsed.net for tickets.
The Cranston East Indoor Percussion Ensemble is preparing for its first competition on Saturday, February 23rd at Dartmouth HS. We are going to be competing in the WGI NE Regional Championship on Saturday, March 2 in Trumbull, CT. Our home competition is Saturday, March 16, right here at Cranston East, 4 PM in the Gymnasium. Adults $10, Students $8. 25 amazing groups from around New England, food, raffles, and fun!

Brown Science Prep is back!
Brown Pathways Program
Students applied to the Brown Pathways program in the fall. Only certain, select students were accepted into the very competitive program.
Students who participated in the program went to Brown Medical School on Saturday mornings throughout the first semester, where they worked with mentors from the medical school, JWU's physician assistant program, URI's pharmacy school, and nursing schools.
Our students were given hands-on experience as to how to assess patients, triage patients, intubate patients, draw blood and take vitals. Students were able to perform these skills in the LifeSpan life skills lab in Providence. Other experiences included going to Brown Medical School for "Meet the Cadaver Day" and then the culmination of their experience was the presentation of their independent research at Brown at the final symposium on Saturday, January 26th.

Are you ready for Valentine's day?
It’s that time again!!!!
Make your special friends feel very special on Valentine’s Day by receiving a Valentine carnation with a message attached. Valentine carnations will be delivered to that special person’s advisory on Valentine’s Day! Valentine carnations are only $1!
Please help the Class of 2022 with their first Valentine’s Day Carnation Sale!!!
To order a Valentine carnation you need to know that special person’s name and advisory room number.
We also provide another option; if you would like to hand-deliver the Valentine carnation to that special person yourself, you can pick up your order in room 405 on Valentine’s Day morning.
Valentine carnations may be ordered in room 405 before or after school from February 1-13 and at all lunches in the main cafeteria starting on February 5.
Please order early. In the past, we have had snow days during our sale that reduced the opportunity to make those special people feel special. So, order your carnations early and often. This is the Class of 2022’s main FUNdraiser, so let’s make our 2019 Valentine’s Day Carnation Sale the best ever! It has always been the goal of this event to make everyone at Cranston HS East feel special on Valentine’s Day. Let’s make it happen! Go Bolts!!
