We Are Hawks!

Oct. 18, 2021

Irons Family,

We had another exciting week of learning, along with many student activities on campus. I loved seeing all our students participate in our ORHS Homecoming week celebration. I enjoyed seeing all current and former students at the ORHS homecoming parade. We finished off the week attending the ORHS Homecoming game. While ORHS did not get the results they were looking for, our former Hawks fought hard the entire game. Thank you to all the teachers, students, and parents who attended the game to support the ORHS War Eagles!

Irons open house will take place on October 27th from 6-8. Open house will be a come-and-go event for you to meet your child's teachers and tour the building. To help keep crowds down, we ask students with last names starting with A-L try to attend from 6:00 to 7:00, and last names M-Z attend 7:00 to 8:00.

Irons PTO is excited to announce our Fall Dance!!! Save the date for Friday, November 12th, from 7-9. The dance is a casual event (NOT semi-formal/formal). All attire must meet the school dress code for students to attend. We will have more details on ticket sales and volunteer opportunities very soon.

Our school yearbook is on sale now for the best price of the year! Purchase early before all copies are sold out!

Report cards were passed out this week. If you have not viewed your child's report card, please ask them for it, or you can log into Parent Access Center to check all grades, attendance, tardies, lunch money, etc.

Football: Both 8th grade Red and White teams beat Moorhead JHS. The 8th Silver team lost to McCullough.

  • 8th Red team -Won 22-8 - While play was suspended with 7:12 left in the 3rd quarter due to darkness, Irons still put up an outstanding offensive performance. We had a great team effort from Drayton Urbay, who scored on a 10-yard run. Ty Youngblood had a 60-yard touchdown run, and Christian Mize scored on a 65-yard touchdown pass from Drayton Urbay.

  • 8th White team -Won 26-19 - Kole DeBerardinis had his best game of the year. He caught two touchdown passes for over 100 yards of offense. Sam Bartlett had a 50-yard touchdown run, and Isaiah Robinson rounded out our defensive performance with a fumble recovery that led to another touchdown.

  • 8th Silver team -Lost 26-0 - Despite the loss, the team fought hard. Ethan Pruitt ran the ball well with over 100 yards.

  • 7th Red Won 42-0 vs. Moorhead. Deondre Yancey had a tremendous offensive performance with one punt return, an interception for six points, and two offensive touchdown receptions. Cayden Harris added to our offensive production with a 60-yard touchdown run. Our defense caused a fumble allowing Kaden Jacobs to return it for a touchdown. Defensively it was a great game by the entire team.

  • 7th White Won 35-0 vs. Moorhead. Jermiah Matthews ran for two touchdowns and had one passing touchdown to Tomas Villegas. Keith Jones also had two running touchdowns to round out our offensive production. Our defense played strong the entire game producing an excellent team shutout.

  • 7th Silver Lost vs. York 1. The Silver team played a challenging game in the loss to York. Alfredo Salcedo ran the ball hard and scored two touchdowns. Unfortunately, the Silver team threw a pick-six and had trouble tackling that led to the defeat.

  • Volleyball had a clean sweep against Moorhead on Thursday night! Once again, a BIG THANKS to all parents/guardians for your support of your athlete and our program. Go, Lady Hawks!
