Gladiator News
Dr. Hector P. Garcia Middle School Newsletter
March 27-31, 2017
The first round of STAAR testing will be held this week. Tuesday is writing (7) and math (8). Wednesday is 8th grade reading. Students need to bring two sharpened pencils and a book to read. We ask that lunches not be dropped off in the front office for students on these days as their lunch times will be different.
We have an informational event on April 24th that all parents are invited to attend on internet safety. If your child has a cell phone, the session will be worth your time. Our PTA will serve light refreshments. (See flyer below for more details.)
Congratulations to our track teams! 8th grade boys are North Zone district champs! 7th grade boys took 3rd place. 7th and 8th grade girls are North Zone district champs! Great job athletes and coaches! Qualifying students will participate in the Meet of Champs on April 4.
It's a GREAT day to be a Gladiator!

Attention 6th Grade Parents
Immunizations Needed for 17-18 school year:
Your child will be required to show proof of the Tdap (within the last 5 years) and Meningococcal (MCV4 ) on or after their 11th birthday (Note: if student received it at age 10, this will satisfy the requirement) in order to start the 7th grade. Notices are being sent home this week for students who have not yet met this requirement. Please ask your child if they received a notice. If your child has already received these immunizations, please send in the record now. If you are unsure about whether or not your child turned in the record or needs these immunizations, then please do not hesitate to contact Merry Garcia, School Nurse, at (210) 397-8409.
