Grow Digital Thinkers using Annotating and Note-Taking Strategies

Are you tired of students just regurgitating notes word-for-word or taking the most minimalistic approach possible? Join this session to learn about ways to guide your students in making the annotating and note-taking process more dynamic and meaningful using digital tools. We will explore strategies for personalizing notes with higher-level thinking and learn tool options including Adobe Preview, Diigo, and Evernote.
Creating Dynamic Content and Real-time Communities

We will explore opportunities to create dynamic content using organized YouTube playlists and options within YouTube editor to edit and combine personal videos using existing Creative Commons music and other tools. These processes will help you flip content or provide students a new way to show their mastery of learning! Hour two will contain time for continuing work with YouTube or learning how real-time communities can enhance your classroom. Learn how to create Google+ Communities and the possibilities for using Hangouts on Air. All materials will be on a Google Community that will be shared with participants so together we can discuss how students might take ownership in learning through these platforms.
Maximizing Math Learning with the iPad - Math Only

Focus will be on utilizing iPads in the math classroom to engage students during class and flip the classroom. We will look at ways to create videos (Doceri, Educreations, etc.), publish videos (YouTube, etc.), and talk about strategies for managing a flipped classroom.
Engaging Students with PLTW Online software - PLTW only

Focus will be on utilizing the new LMS system provided by PLTW as a way to enhance student learning. Project hand out and turn in options, navigation, customization, and class management will be discussed. We will also look at how the system can be used as part of “flipping” your classroom. You may bring your own computer or use the ones available in the class.
