We Live the Word!

Friday, April 13

Dear Students, Families, & Friends,

The latest pre-K newsletter recently landed on my desk! I am excited to share a few of their achievements!

New in Mrs. Kortick's pre-K for April 2018: Our Dramatic Play Center is a Jungle! Students can search for "bugs, snakes, grass, and flowers" in the Discovery table! We are also Exploring Bugs in the Science Center!

Recent Highlights from March 2018:

  • We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by reading many Dr. Seuss books and balancing beanbags on our heads like the Cat in the Hat balances many things in the book!
  • We graphed our favorite dinosaur, with Tyrannosaurus Rex being the favorite, followed by Apatosaurus and Triceratops.
  • We had a visit from a leprechaun who came to our class while we were in the gym and he made a "mess" of our room! But, he left us some "treasure" so it was all good!
  • We did a fun science activity where we put yellow water in one jar and blue water in another. We placed paper towels leading from each jar into an empty jar. It was fun to watch what happened next... something for you to try at home!
  • We wrote about what we would do if we had a dinosaur for a pet. Some responses were: "feed it leaves and plants," "pet it," "it would have an elephant for a brother," "it would jump on me" and "I would ride it to church with my family."

As always, Thank You for your support of Father John V. Doyle School!

Mrs. Jae T. Smith

Thank you for supporting our schools Read-a-Thon!

Over the next few days, we will be calculating our total reading minutes and sponsors to coordinate a day of celebration as we attempt to "Duct Tape Mrs. Smith To The Wall" on April 24. Students who qualify for the no uniform day and tape to help at this event will be notified on Monday, April 23, 2018. The following information is important to read regarding donations and the prize center:

  • Supporters will still be able to donate for the next 10 days.
  • The prize center will be open for those who participated for the next 10 days as well. The students must log in and purchase what they would like using the RAT Bucks that they earned through the website. After the 10 day period, the prize center will no longer be available.
